I have considerable experience of selection and assessment, ranging from advising on the appointment of individuals to top posts to managing major programmes of assessments in connection with major organizational change.
Research has shown that the best predictor of job performance is job performance, but that cognitive (reasoning) tests and personality questionnaires can also make useful contributions. So when advising employers I tend to recommend the use of assessment centre methods (such as written exercises, group discussion and role plays) together with tests and questionnaires.
I have also advised on the whole recruitment and selection process including drawing up job descriptions, person specifications and competencies, through to the negotiation of offers of employment. I have a proven link with an executive search agency.
Outside the area of selection and assessment I have developed and run a series of Career Development Workshops for senior staff, and have significant experience of the management of Training and Development (including Investors in People accreditation) of work on Training Evaluation, and of Total Quality (the EFQM Model).
I have been employed by the Post Office/Royal Mail, a College of Technology and by a Research Institute. In addition I have worked as a consultant to a wide range of organizations ranging from charities to insurance companies and fund managers.
